Married (my wife Linda is also an artist, and a very good critic)
We share our home and studio in Orangeville with our four children,
assorted pets and on any given day several artist friends. Our gallery
and shop is a recent undertaking and very much a work in progress.
We recommend and stock art supplies for our students and colleagues, frame
their work, help them prepare for shows, and of course demonstrate the
technical and creative potential of various mediums. Our clients
have come to expect a high level of knowledge and enthusiasm.
TRAINING
Other than taking interest courses in workshop settings I am
a self taught artist. I started painting as a hobby in 1994, took
a few courses, and then began to show and sell work. I began to teach
in 1997 in response to many requests, and I suppose that in designing and
administering a curriculum I have been able to stay about three lessons
ahead of my students. In the end I learned along the way, and the
student's needs have led me to explore portraiture, equine art, floral
painting, mixed media techniques, and technical illustration.
I read as much as I can, paint almost every day, and have gained
in professional understanding from participating in shows and talking with
fellow artists. I owe a debt of gratitude to the advice and encouragement
received from others, and in turn I make every effort to encourage others.
Career highlights 1996 to 1999
Co-Founder of the High County Studio Tour, now featuring 30+

Three years experience teaching adult students in evening workshops
at my studio. I work with about 45 students each year instructing
at the beginner and intermediate level in drawing, watercolour, oils, and
acrylics.
Regular exhibitor in local exhibitions. Two years experience
demonstrating painting techniques, materials and mixed media applications
at art group meetings and public shows.
Annual Production: 35 to 45 framed works various mediums
(Also numerous smaller works, studies and sketches)
COMMISSIONS
I currently accept commissions in watercolours and oils. (one
or two a month) I do this for two reasons. First the challenge
of working on a subject I may not have considered before. This is
a great way to stretch my abilities. Second is the reward of knowing
that I am creating something that will likely become a treasured family
heirloom. It's very enjoyable work.
