Twenty-five years ago he decided to concentrate solely on fine art, specifically in Wildlife and Steam Trains. Douglas is equally adept in oils, pastels and watercolours, and in October 1987 received the top award, the "Pastel Silver Plate" presented by the Pastel Society of Canada at their first International Exhibition held at Casa Loma in Toronto.
In 1996 an independent jury named a few of The Pastel Society of Canada members as a "Premier Pastellist of Canada". P.P.C. Douglas was one of those chosen.
To date he has had eleven solo exhibitions, including a two month show at the Universal Museum of Hunting and Wildlife in Montreal. He has participated in a number of other exhibitions such as the World Wildlife's "Spirit of the Wild" show and auction held at the King Edward Hotel in Toronto, and presided over by Prince Philip.
His magnificent studies can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world including Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, The Royal Bank of Canada, Bombardier and the Australian Consulate.
His work has been published in many hard cover quality art books, including the "International Art Guide" and "92 Transparences, Water Colour & Pastels.
In 1999 a hard cover book "The Best of Canadian Pastels" published in the U.S.A. and distributed worldwide in seven languages, features Douglas' painting, a Polar Bear on the cover, plus a section on his work inside.
He continues to enjoy painting the beautiful landscapes and animals that capture his imagination, and hopes that his art will help others to view these creatures as he does, with compassion and understanding that they also have a place here.
