BIOGRAPHY

Laszlo Szilvassy was born in Hungary in 1925.
 
He studied art and architecture at the University of Budapest. In 1946 joined the staff of the Hungarian State Opera House, as artist & junior designer. He exhibited at Budapest Galleries in 1944,-46, & -47.
In the summer of 1948, he emigrated to England and had his first English exhibition in 1949. Between 1950-67 he worked as an artist, designer and photographer with the major ballet companies. During that time he exhibited at various London galleries, including Gallery One, the Grosvenor Gallery, and the Westbourne Gallery.
 
He emigrated to to Canada in 1967, and became 'stills photographer' for the motion picture industry in Toronto. During the next 10 years he worked in this capacity for major Canadian and Hollywood production houses (Wedding in White; The Black Stallion, and White Dawn). He exhibited at the Kar Gallery, the Merton Gallery, and Delbello Gallery, in Toronto.
 
Corporate Clients - Cadillac Fairview - He created several copper relief murals and a limestone carving. Bank of Montreal - 5000 sq. ft. of copper murals and three large paintings for the First Canadian Place in Toronbo. Olympia & York - granite fountain with bronze eagle, Springfield, Mass. The Queen's Quay Terminal Building houses a painting and a bronze sculpture . Two artwork projects for Olympia and York in Hartford, Conn.
June-July, 1994, successfully exhibited at the Bloomsbury Gallery of the University of London, England.
 
Presently working on sculptures designs for Olympia and York Development Corp., and drawing Lithography for the Delbello Gallery in Toronto.
