ARTISTS STATEMENT
I consider my role in the art world as one of enjoyable interpretations
of what I see in my surroundings.
Interpretation includes very real feelings for elements such
as ligh, shadow, colour, wind, weather, value, contrast, composition and
subject matter.
I am fortunate to live where landscape subjects are virtually
unlimited from ocean to seashore, rainforest, fishing ports and alpine
glaciers.
Wildlife is also abundant and affords great challenge.
The people who live and work on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands
and on the ocean are a source of unending fascination to me. Their equipment-aircraft,
trucks, heavy machinery and boats all are part of the human interface with
nature and deserve recognition as an essential part of the society of British
Columbia, and of Canada.
Lastly, I hope to provide a form of genuine entertainment to
my viewers which might approach the degree of personal satisfaction I get
from painting.
