Conrad Mieschke   (A short,  Biography)

A professional artist since 1970, Conrad was born in 1938 (in Poland to German parents) and raised and educated in Germany. He is a graduate from the Graphic Academy in Munich, immigrated to Canada in 1965 and works from his home-studio now in Barrie, Ontario, where he moved to from Brampton Ontario in 2017, so he can live close by his son and family.

The medium he uses is water based (watercolour, Acrylic or egg-tempera), and although most of his work is done in his studio, he take extensive breaks hiking around rural Ontario in search of new subjects, new ideas and new inspirations.

Conrad’s  work has been published by Hallmark, UNICEF Canada, Canadian Art Prints Ltd., and Access Fine Art, -- as cards, limited prints and giclée reproductions. He was also chosen to be included in Ducks Unlimited Canada Art Portfolio in 2016 & 2019, as well as in two art-books,-- “Who’s Who in Visual Art” and “Best Worldwide Water Media Artists.”

In 1999 he has been awarded “Arts Person of the Year” in his hometown of Brampton,    and in 2016 he received the "Arts Acclaim Award" from the city of Brampton as well.

After the death of his wife in a car accident, he lives today by himself and enjoys most a hike in the country, the solitude of his work, or the company of his friends and extended family, but especially his two grand-sons Aidan and Callum.                                                                                                                                            He states: “I live at peace with myself and with the world around me, and I strive to keep it that way.”

Artist’ Statement

“Painting is my means of communicating my most intimate impressions of nature, my emotional reaction to life, my deep feeling about my subject and the world around me.

As an artist I try to interpret nature because it is also my basic believe, that nature is a true source of inner peace.

If my work is effective in communicating that believe, then it speaks for me and I would like to think, that I am succeeding in this effort.”
